As we know that COVID-19 has affected across the world. India is one of the worst affected country in the world of COVID-19. It has affected negatively on Indian economy and its various sectors. Generally, we believe like that COVID-19 has affected negatively to various sectors of Indian economy. What do you think?? what is the impact of COVID-19 on various sectors of India??? Your answer may be a negative impact of COVID-19 on various sectors of India. But this is not right answer of this question.  You are right one. Because of People around us always talk about negative impact of COVID-19 on Indian economy.  But this is not the real pictures of the impact of COVID-19 on various sectors of the economy. I want to take you to different picture of impact of COVID-19 on various sectors of Indian economy. There are two kinds of impact of COVID-19 on sectors of Indian economy: Positive and Negative. You might have idea about only negative impact of COVID-19 on various sectors of Indian economy. But there are lots of positive impact of COVID-19 on various sectors of Indian economy, such as Gaming sector, IT sector, Social Media Sector, E-commerce Sector, Media and Entertainment Sector, and Telecommunication Sector. 


First Gaming sector, according to sources, no. of PUBG player has been increased by 50.44% from 606.9 (in thousands) in February ,2020 to 913.07 (in thousands) in April ,2020.  According to The Mobile Daily Active User has been increased by 30% during the month of April. Mobile Game installs has started to increase in the mid of march month and then after further increased in the month of April, it started to decline in the month of May. All this would affect positively to gaming sector, its growth and its revenue.  During COVID-19 lockdown period, no. of game player has increased, and mobile game installs has increased, so COIVD-19 has positively affected to Gaming sectors.


Second IT sector, According to Sensor tower data, ZOOM video conferencing had the highest number of downloads from India during the month of March 2020 and reached to 6 million downloads and zoom daily download reached   to 2.13 Million in the month of March 2020. No. of app download reached to 6.4 billion in the month of July 2020.  According to Digital 2020: Global Digital Overview, there is increased in online and digital activities such as watching more shows, spending longer time on social media, spending longer time on messenger service etc.  in the month of April 2020. So, there is one more positive impact of COVID-19 on IT sector.


Third social media sector, as we know that during COVID-19 period, Indian government has banned Tiktok application which was holding top 10 apps place among google play store and apple store. After putting the ban on the use of Tiktok, users of ROPOSO and DUBSMASH have been increased.  Collectively growth of ROPOSO, DUBSMASH, and ZILL   reached to 155% in terms of download in three weeks after removal of Tiktok from India.  Roposo is Indian video sharing platform developed by three IIT Delhi alumini. So, there is positive impact of COVID-19 on Indian application and social media sector.


Fourth E-commerce sector, according to sources, Amazon net sales have increased up to 88912 (US$ in million) in June 30, 2020   from 75452 (US$ in million) in March 31, 2020 . Amazon net income has increased by around 100 % in the month of July 2020 as compared to March 2020.  During the period of nationwide lockdown and after lockdown, no. of online shoppers has increased. Because of fear of COVID-19, people prefer to shop online rather than buying from physical market. 


fifth media and entertainment sector, COVID-19 has affected highly by events, film and TV segment, medium to animation and radio segment and low impact on OTT , online gaming and print. So, it has affected more positively to Over the top platforms which is delivering content over the internet. Because of OTT, subscribers of Netflix, Amazon prime video and Disney plus have increased during the time global pandemic COVID. There is one more positive impact of COVID-19 on OTT platform of media and entertainment sector.



sixth telecommunication sector, according to sources COVID-19 has affected positively to total wireless data usage and Jio market share. Because of during COVID-19 data consumption of total wireless has increased and jio’s market share also increased. 


There are so many positive impacts of COVID 19 other than discussing above such as the health care sector, advertising sector and many more. But on the other side we can’t avoid the negative side of COVID-19 so there is also negative impact of COVID-19 on various sectors such as power sector, travel and tourism sector, and aviation sector. Every coin has two sides. The Same thing applied to the impact of COVID-19 on sectors of Indian economy.
